The craft
We build in teak, reclaimed iron wood and benkirai, the hardwoods that have stood up to the tropics for centuries. No shortcuts, no veneers.
Each villa is joined the traditional way, wedged and pegged rather than nailed, so it can be taken apart, shipped across the world and raised again exactly as drawn. Our workshop in Bali, led by master craftsman Agus, has been refining this for a decade.
Teak
A dense, oil-rich hardwood that resists rot, insects and warping without chemical treatment. It weathers to a silver-grey outdoors or keeps its warm brown tone when oiled, and it's the wood most associated with traditional Balinese carving.
Reclaimed iron wood (ulin)
Among the densest and most durable hardwoods used in construction, ulin is naturally resistant to rot, termites and standing water, which makes it well suited to decking, posts and anything close to the ground.
Benkirai
A yellow balau hardwood widely used for outdoor structures and decking. It's harder and more affordable than teak, and we use it where structural strength matters more than fine carving.
Legally sourced hardwood
Fully documented and export-licensed, with the certificates your customs will ask for.
Hand carving
Screens, doors and details carved by the same hands that build the frame.
That same hand-carving work doesn't stop at the frame. It carries through to the furniture, fixtures and bespoke elements that go inside every villa we build.
